What is the difference between Roots blowers and centrifugal blowers?

2022-04-27
In the work, we always use many types of blowers, and there are many classifications of the same blowers. So, what is the difference between a Roots blower and a centrifugal blower?
1. Pressure
The pressure of the centrifugal blower, even if the high pressure is 10KPA, the pressure unit of the general centrifugal blower is Pa, the Roots blower is Kpa, and the maximum pressure of the Roots blower is 98kpa.
2. Air volume
The air volume of centrifugal blower is much larger than that of Roots blower. Large Roots blower have an air volume of 20,000 per hour, while centrifugal blowers can reach hundreds of thousands. The selection of centrifugal blower generally focuses on the air volume, while the Roots blower generally focuses on pressure.
3. Performance characteristics
Centrifugal blowers are large-flow blowers. The air volume generated is because the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the impeller drives the air volume. The air volume changes greatly with the pressure. For the same centrifugal blower, the higher the pressure, the smaller the air volume. Roots blower is a positive displacement blower, and the air volume changes relatively little with the change of pressure, which belongs to constant flow blower.
4. Applicable fields

Roots blowers are generally used in environmental protection industries, such as pneumatic conveying, sewage treatment, etc. Centrifugal blowers are relatively versatile and can be used for smoke exhaust and air supply, and can be used in various industries.
